My Classroom in 5 Years

I don't imagine my classroom in 5 years will look like something from the Jetson's, but I'm sure there will be some new tools available to students that teachers should probably be aware of. I hope to see an increase in technology budgets throughout lower SES school districts, which will provide more SmartBoards per school and more laptops per student. I think we might see more uses of the following:

• GPS Systems
• Amazon Kindle
• Global Pen Pals
• Height-Adjustable chairs and desks so students can stand or sit
• Activotes (Clickers)
• Role-playing, virtual worlds like Second Life
• Video conferencing
• Natural lighting
• Cell phones

Maybe in the future, more than 5 years away, we might see touch screens built into each students' desk! This is the Microsoft Surface, which I've actually played with at the Microsoft Campus... this technology is SO cool, and I feel like this video doesn't really do it justice.
