Technology Project Plan
I am going to create a classroom website with Webs.com using some of the tools we have learned in class to make my website even cooler. :)
On the website I will have the following pages:
• Home
o Describes the website
o Widgets (Dictionary, Weather, Word of the Day, This Day in History)
o Link to my e-mail address and other school contact info
• Who We Are
- Pictures of Students with links to their own personal pages
- Cluster Map displaying the hometown/nationality of each student, or places the students have visited.
• Our Teacher
- A mini personal profile about me, letting visitors know about my education and background.
- The words “Photo Blog” from Spell with Flickr, including some photos of my family and recent events in my personal life.
• Lindner Logs
- A blog that I will keep about events in the classroom. Students will also have their own blogs on their own pages and they will use this page frequently for writing prompts. I am hoping that students will be able to subscribe to each others’ blogs through Webs.com just as we (NW students) are doing with Blogspot.com.
• Parent Page
- Welcome Note
- Hyperlinks to Resources such as Parent-Teacher Conference Preparation, Homework Help, Curriculum websites, District website (for school closures), etc.
- Volunteer Opportunities in the classroom (wiki)
- Link to Weekly Newsletter
• Classroom Info
- Homework Due Dates
- Classroom Events
- Homework Explanations
- Student Jobs (Attendance Manager, Recycling Professional, Inventory Maintenance, etc)
- Wikis to sign up for tasks
• Photo Gallery
-Pictures from the classroom and various events (field trips, presentations, etc)
- Videos (movies made with Microsoft Movie Maker—I have created a slideshow of pictures I took from camp as an example of what this will look like since I don’t have a classroom yet.)
• Game Zone
- A page with links to educational websites offering fun games for students.
• Guestbook
- This was provided by Webs.com, but it will be used by visitors and parents to comment on the page.
I am choosing to create a website so that my classroom community will have access to information. I also hope that it serves as a reference to parents who are checking out the school, and so that parents of current students are never surprised about what happens in the classroom. I want to keep them informed through every step and I feel I could best communicate that through this website.
Added 4.14.2009:
I have decided to not add the Game Zone page, and I am also not going to create the Wiki for the student jobs, since I already provided a Wiki example under the parent volunteer page. In reality, I would probably include this on the class page.
I am finished with the project already.
