Caught on Video
This blog was fun to read because the author didn't try to force-feed his appreciation for technology down the reader's throat. I love the attitude he had about how students can benefit from it. I agree with him when he says, "And you just know that students are going to find their own purposes for these tools where their creativity and engagement will be unleashed."
His ideas for using technology in the classroom also got my mind spinning. I liked idea #5 (Filming questions from the class at the beginning of a unit and filming them answering the same questions at the end of the unit) and thought it would be so fun to have students film themselves at home as they answer math questions provided by the teacher, and have them do the same thing at the end of a unit to see how they have improved in their abilities. Not only would this be a great formative tool for teachers, but it would give the student immediate feedback about their learning. And what kid doesn't love playing with a video camera and watching themselves over and over again? :)
